Keane announce new single 'Perfect Symmetry'

With arguably the most talked about album of 2008, Keane returned with their critically acclaimed third album Perfect Symmetry on 13th October. The album went straight in the UK charts at No. 1 and was Top 10 around the world, including Number 7 in the American Billboard Charts. This third release also joined an elite number of British artists that have achieved consecutive number 1’s with their first three albums (alongside Oasis, Coldplay and Robbie Williams). The band also won ‘Track of the Year’ at the Q Awards for their free download single Spiralling (“If it doesn’t end up in the lists of best British singles this year, Keane will have been robbed.” - The Times), just weeks after it was downloaded by over half a million fans.

Keane release a new single, the title track of the album, Perfect Symmetry, on 29th December 2008.

Perfect Symmetry is a vast and impressive song, characteristic in it’s forthright and stirring delivery, choral climax and chasing melody. Tom Chaplin delivers his strongest vocal on the album and Tim Rice Oxley’s writing, (“It’s ambitious, triumphantly executed stuff – melodically and lyrically…” - Uncut) is shown at it’s most inspiring.

“From the first moment we started work on this Bohemian Rhapsody style sprawling epic, we felt we were on to something special. The song conveys the sadness we feel about how there is still so much war, terrorism and destruction in the world, despite the fact that most of us are peace-loving souls. It's our anthem of peace.” Tom Chaplin

In their confident re-invention Keane have taken the band to another level, and are one of the most talked about band’s in Britain this year. There is no other band that successfully bridge two musical worlds that are usually in conflict. In that, they have not only re-invented themselves but re-defined themselves as artists on a truly international stage.

Keane have announced their UK Arena tour to begin on 23rd January 2009 at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, concluding in London with two O2 Arena dates.

23 January 2009 Odyssey Arena Belfast
25 January 2009 The O2 Dublin

The problem I have with this album is there is guitar on it and if I remember rightly they used to pride themselves on piano rock. Now they are just rock and that will not help them much I don't think. I've been meaning to say this for ages but I just saw an advert on TV and it reminded me.

I kind of like their music, because I'm a girl, but that dude really puts me off. He looks like a giant baby.

I went to the launch party for this album, I have to say I don't mind the band. I used to think the singer looked like a cabbage patch kid, but he's lost loadsa weight now and actually looks ok. From what I've heard so far from this album I think it's ok, but not anything amazing though..

HOWEVER, having just scrolled up and looked at that band picture he still looks pretty gross, he's not so gross in real life, he must not be very tele/photogenic!
