'DR NIALL BOMBAST (BLACK) & HIS TIGHT MINDED SCOPE TROOPER (DOG)'
Cosmic quintet Pilgrim Fathers release their brand new CD - the adventurously titled (and equally musically adventurous!) 'Dr Niall Bombast (black) & His Tight Minded Scope Trooper (dog)' through Undergroove (The Ghost Of A Thousand, Minus The Bear, Hexes, Aereogramme).
The title track is a three-part 15-minute journey prog odyssey recorded live in the studio that takes the listener on an exhilarating journey.
The CD also features two more tracks: 'Black Sail Pass' - which is a musical improvisation to accompany a short film made by local film-maker Iain Finlay (also on the CD). Shot in Wales the film features Dan Oliver a performance artist - and a small boat, while the music was recorded live in an old library hall. The third track 'The Unusual Woods' is an acoustic live stereo recording and also a binaurally recorded track. It was recorded live and partly improvised in Ambergate Woods in Derbyshire with 16 musicians. The CD also features an animation by Lateral Lines, which contains some footage of the recording in the woods.
Since releasing their debut album 'Short Circular Walks in The Hope Valley mid-2008, Pilgrim Fathers have enjoyed a BBC Radio One Rock Show session, as well as UK tours with 65daysofstatic, Monster Magnet and Nebula and *shels.
From October to mid-December 2008 - the band are in mainland Europe on a 46-date tour with Monster Magnet and Nebula.
The release of 'Dr Niall…' continues to see the band's quest for constant creativity and musical adventure…. Prepare to join in the ride!
