Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record in the World Right Now’ 45k downloads and counting

Norwegian duo Röyksopp, Svein Berge & Torbjørn Brundtland, have made an exclusive new track Happy Birthday available for free Mp3 download from their official website (Happy Birthday Röyksopp!) to celebrate their birthday.

Without any promotion Happy Birthday has already been picked up and passed around by a host of bloggers and last week BBC Radio One's Zane Lowe gave the track its first radio spin as his 'Hottest Record in the World Right Now'. The track has since also been played by Radio One's Annie Mac, which prompted such an instant surge of traffic to Royksopp's official site that it collapsed for a few minutes under the strain.

The Mp3, which is only available for a limited period of time, has already been downloaded 45k times from the Royksopp official site not to mention experiencing countless peer-to-peer action.

Happy Birthday is the band's first new material since the release of their acclaimed 2005 album The Understanding. In October 2001 the band released their debut album Melody A.M. which went on to sell in excess of one million copies.
