Deer Tick Announces Tour, Includes Dates with Jason Isbell

Following dates with Jenny Lewis, a national tour with The Felice Brothers, a stint in Spain, and a New Year’s blowout last ever show at the Knitting Factory—Deer Tick is poised to hit the road again this February. First, the band will headline a handful of dates throughout the northeast (as well as a stop in Chicago) before joining former Drive By Trucker Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit for dates leading up to the South By Southwest festival.

After some much-needed New Year’s hangover recovery, Deer Tick is headed into the studio to record another album for Partisan Records until the tour kicks off at Bowery Ballroom in New York on February 13th. Deer Tick will also be announcing the details of its second full-length album Born On Flag Day in the coming weeks.

Deer Tick has been nominated by The Deli NYC as one of the best NYC based artists of '08! Polls are open until January 18. Folks can head over to The Deli - The Best Indie Artists and Bands from NYC
to vote.

Recent Praise for Deer Tick:

Quote:

“John McCauley, the wunderkind behind Rhode Island’s Deer Tick, possesses the single most important entity every good country troubadour needs: a story.” – VenusZine (3.5 out of 4 stars)

“I think this might have come out in late 2007. Who cares? I discovered it in 2008… I’ll still be playing it in 2009, too.” – Jesse Elliot of These United States

“Avoiding the often-haphazard pastiche of his twang-tinged indie-rock peers, Deer Tick mastermind John McCauley’s moans are like paved-over gravel — their slicked surface a thin cover for the jagged edges below. Reissued this year on an only slightly larger label, War Elephant now holds the distinction of being one of the most impressive albums to ever be ignored by critic’s lists two years in a row.” – Flavorwire / Flavorpill
