The Gateway to Scandinavian Music
by:Larm will take place in Scandinavia's pearl, Oslo, for the second year running between the 19 - 21 February 2009. This years’ festival will beat all previous records with a total of 500 concerts shared between 40 stages right in the heart of the city. With almost 250 artists performing between the official by:Larm programme and the club:Larm concept (smaller venues), audiences & industry professionals can pick and choose amongst some of the most exciting artists from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland.
ABBA, The Hives, A-HA, The Cardigans, Mew and Røyksopp are all artists with their roots in Scandinavia. At by:Larm you can discover the next generation of artists ranging from metal, pop/rock, jazz, electronica and folk music. After last years success stories from Lykke Li, Ida Maria, FM Belfast and more, by:Larm will be exploring new young hopefuls and the more established acts for 2009 including Annie, Harrys Gym, Whitest Boy Alive, Ólafur Arnalds, Lindstrøm and others.
Programme chief Runar S. Eggesvik said ”I feel that we have achieved a very nice balance in the programme. Looking at the big picture, we can see a good combination of success-hungry new bands, and bands that have played by:larm earlier but want to capture a larger part of the industry and public’s attention. We are very optimistic with the thought of the music year 2009”.
The festival is, in other words, the doorway to the best of new Scandinavian music.
Alongside the incredible acts playing this year, there are a number of key speakers appearing in seminars and Q&A’s. Some of the below will be available for interview, please contact us for further details.
