Dan Deacon to release new album 'Bromst'

Our 23d March on Carpark

The new album from Baltimore whizzkid Dan Deacon is called "Bromst", and drops March 23rd on Carpark.

"Bromst" has been three years in the making. Fusing together the sense of community and intensity of his live shows with his skills in electro-acoustic composition, its a collection of pieces intense and epic but at the same time down to earth and welcoming. Unlike the completely electronic "Spiderman of the Rings", "Bromst" is a mixture of acoustic instruments, mechanical instruments, samples and electronics. There's piano, marimba, glockenspiel, vibraphone, live drums, winds and brass creating an altogether more dense sound with toytown prog noises, tribal rhythms, even vocals - its still a warped eclectic mix on the earholes but a much more digestable form than before. God knows what that's going to do to the live show but we're certain it'll be one to watch out for.

"Deacon is the Salvador Dali of electro... a refreshing example of someone rewriting rules of music as he goes along" THE GUARDIAN

"a derranged crossbreading of Sucide, Philip Glass, Daft Punk, and Pinky & Perky" Q

Also.

On 16th February Carpark are also releasing a split 1000 copy limited edition 12" yellow vinyl featuring Dan Deacon/Adventure.

Side A: Dan Deacon - 1.Get Older 2.Cave Birth
Side B: Adventure - 1.Poison Diamonds 2.Lifeguards

For the past five years, Dan Deacon has been traveling around the world performing in just about any space imaginable from alleyways, basements and abandoned buildings to institutions like the Whitney, the Getty and the Smithsonian. Much has changed since Dan started his travels. While his music still has the same uplifting spirit as before, it now has a maturity. 'Get Older' is about realising that aging, growth and change should be embraced, not feared. Its guitar parts are performed by Matt Papich (Ecstatic Sunshine, White Williams).

Adventure's side starts with an oldie and ends with a newbie. The first song 'Poison Diamonds' is like an 8 bit Lego masterpiece built by a 10 year old living on another planet. The second song, 'Lifeguard', is his most recent track. The lyrics were inspired by Dan Deacon after Benny (aka Adventure) played him the instrumental track. It is the first Adventure song to feature Benny's voice, and is slower and poppier than his previous video-game sounding work.
