Debut Album to follow in the Spring
Kicking off with Ben Folds in the band, Miniature Tigers will join Ben Folds for nearly three weeks beginning February 11 in Princeton, NJ, and concluding March 1 in Charlotte, NC. On March 2nd, Miniature Tigers will hook up for a March tour with Dear and the Headlights winding their way into SXSW.
Phoenix, Arizona's Miniature Tigers release their debut album “Tell it to the Volcano” on Modern Art Records this Spring. The new album comes on the heels of their two EP’s and stellar nods from press at CMJ '08.
The band is thrilled to announce the addition of Phantom Planet’s Darren Robinson to their touring band. Robinson’s mainstay gig has gone on an indefinite hiatus, allowing him time to work with some new collaborators. The band is currently working out their live show for their upcoming dates, including a hometown headliner at Modified Arts, a short run with Lenka and a tour with Dear & The Headlights leading into SXSW.
Miniature Tigers’ sound was forged in the bedroom of frontman Charlie Brand, only to quickly outgrow the space, with the band soon finding itself on stage, in the studio and signed to Phoenix’s Modern Art Records in short order. Brand’s lyrics – a mix of deeply personal insights and playful references to the disparate cultural artifacts that have informed his existence – and effortlessly constructed indie-pop arrangements have made fans in his native Phoenix and beyond. They stretch to Los Angeles, where he reconnected with drummer, collaborator and fellow charter member of the band Rick Schaier while living in Hollywood, and far beyond thanks to the Internet, which it seems people are into these days.
