The annual unsigned artist competition to earn major prizes and live slots at the Gaymers Camden Crawl in April, ‘Indie Idle’
Initiating the festival season each Spring, the Camden Crawl is renowned for being the first to showcase the coming year’s most hotly tipped artists alongside phenomenal special guest surprises and performances by seminal greats. By day, the Crawl is a sprawling carnival-style arts festival featuring comedy, short film, pop quizzes, bingo, busking, acoustic performances, workshops, spoken word, karaoke, unsigned band competitions, exhibitions, gaming, an outdoor stage with special guests and more…By night, however, the mile long stretch of pavement becomes an all out live music extravaganza playing host to 150 of the best new talents performing across the area’s infamous venues.
Following unprecedented entries and online participation in 2008, this year’s campaign will emulate the format developed over the past three years with even more coveted final prizes to be battled over. Not only will the finalists secure live slots, festival passes and hospitality at the prestigious event, but the winner will additionally earn a day’s recording at a renowned London recording studio, single mastering and manufacturing of 500 7” singles as well as various other prizes to be confirmed and announced on the Indie Idle website over the coming weeks.
From Monday 19th January, artists will be able to submit their details and enter the competition via the entry form at Indie Idle 2009 until the closing date of 28th February. At this time, The Gaymers Camden Crawl and a panel of music industry tastemakers will shortlist the 30 best entries from all music genres. Throughout the month of March, the shortlist will be open to public vote via the website to narrow the competition to the final 10 which will go head-to-head in front of a live audience and a panel of judges
at the Gaymers Camden Crawl itself on 24th & 25th April. The winners and runners up will be announced on the final day of the festival. Tickets for the Gaymers Camden Crawl 2009 are on sale now and available at Home - Camden Crawl. The ticket, which is exchanged for a wristband on entry, allows the festival’s punter unlimited access to all Crawl venues, after show parties and daytime activities and also includes a free download album, programme guide and magazine. Initial line-ups will be announced end January 2009.
