"SAINTS" SINGLE OF THE WEEK ON ITUNES AUSTRALIA, PICKING UP ADDS AT COMMERCIAL RADIO
Los Angeles indie pop collective Army Navy are excited to announce a string of west coast dates in support of their debut self-titled LP that was released this past October on their own label The Fever Zone. Beginning February 16 in Los Angeles, CA, the band will embark on a series of dates, including shows supporting Brooklyn's French Kicks and a stop at San Francisco's popular weekly, Popscene, as a kickoff party for the annual Noise Pop Festival.
The last several months of 2008 saw Army Navy grow from local favorites to gaining an international presence and critical acclaim off of their LP of finely honed pop songs that Filter.com described as "irrefutably charming" and "undeniably infectious." Notoriously fickle music review site Pitchforkmedia.com exclaimed that the album is "a blast" and a "bubbly effervescent valentine" while stamping the release with a highly favorable 7.8 rating. Indeed, the quartet's first single "My Thin Sides," which was paired with a hilarious video featuring Paul Scheer of Human Giant took the blogosphere by storm while their second single, "Saints" is poised to break into the mainstream. "Saints," which Blender Magazine calls "a lovely indie-rock swoon" is currently the prestigious Single Of the Week on Itunes Australia. Stateside, it has begun to gain radio play on tastemaker commercial stations and was recently added to power rotation on Sirius satellite radio's indie-leaning XMU station.
2009 is already looking to be a ground-breaking year for the independent band. Indie rock date-flick Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist will be released on DVD February 4, which prominently features two Army Navy songs alongside artists like Vampire Weekend, Modest Mouse and The National. The band will also be releasing two singles in the upcoming months in the UK, culminating in the release of their album in early summer along with a full tour of Europe.
