 Croydon’s young urban indie rockers THE TUNICS kick start 2009 with the release of their brand new single ‘Shine On’ on 2nd March. A live favourite since the early days of the band, it is one of the key tracks that sold the band to Manta Ray Music in late 2006. The band spent most of 2008 mesmerizing crowds across the UK. Having played frenetic shows with the likes of Cage The Elephant and Das Pop, they rounded off the year with a storming show at Club NME in Swansea.
The band’s stunning debut album ‘Somewhere In Somebody’s Heart’ will follow in May. It was recorded with young rising-star producer James Lewis who has recently worked with Cajun Dance Party, the Wombats, as well as the Arctic Monkeys.
Joe Costello (vocals & guitar), Scott Shepherd (bass guitar), and Max Karpinski (drums) served their unique brand of lyric-driven, incisive rock’n’roll with their previous statement-of-intent single ‘Cost Of Living’ in December, which gained them new fans in the press (NME club pick of the week) radio (John Kennedy at XFM, 6Music plays) and TV (E4 and NME TV play lists).
With the release of ‘Shine On’, the band continue to build on the buzz and fanbase in the UK through shows, on blogs, on Student Radio and in Student Unions and clubs around the country, as well as plays on SKY SPORTS flagship show Soccer AM. In addition to this the plot is gaining huge momentum Internationally, where previous single Cost Of Living was Video Of The Week on A&R WORLDWIDE and received plays on radio stations in Australia, Germany and across North America.
