MUSIC FESTIVAL LAUNCHED TO GENERATE FUNDS FOR ENDANGERED SPECIES

Red List LIVE aims to raise £100,000 in first year for some of the world’s most at risk animals.

19-21 June 2009 at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, Kent

Port Lympne Wild Animal Park and its host of endangered animals can expect some unusual mid-Summer visitors this year as over 200 live acts head to Kent for the inaugural Red List LIVE. Visual artists, poets and performers will join the host of top live music talent at the home of Kent’s most exotic inhabitants when they head to Port Lympne.

Red List LIVE will take place from 19–21 June 2009 with Early Bird tickets on sale for the credit crunch friendly price of £99 for adults and teenagers and £20 for four to 12-year-olds, under fouryear-olds go free.

Launched by The Aspinall Foundation, £5 from every weekend ticket sold, and 50 per cent of the profits from the festival will go to the charity. A fundraising target of £100,000 has been set for 2009, with the festival hoping to help donate £1,000,000 to the Foundation in five years.

Red List LIVE will also help raise awareness of the endeavours of the IUCN’s Red List of Threatened Species™ which is widely recognised as the most comprehensive, objective global approach for evaluating the conservation status of plant and animal species. Living at the animal park are Western Lowland Gorillas, the largest breeding herd of Black Rhinos outside Africa, along with African Elephants, Siberian and Indian Tigers, Red Pandas, Barbary Lions and many more of the planet’s most magnificent creatures.
Red List LIVE Festival Director Eddie Hill said: “It is a fact that some of the world’s most beautiful animals are also the most endangered. Red List LIVE will be a fun event for a serious cause – we want to help protect and celebrate these amazing creatures.” She adds: “We’re crossing our fingers for a sunny weekend, but whatever the weather we’ve got fantastic acts booked, and we’ll be adding quite a few more yet. The countdown has begun and we
really cannot wait!”
