THE WESTBURY 2ND BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

THE WESTBURY 2ND BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

w/ NEW YOUNG PONY CLUB, ROB DA BANK, A SKILLZ & MANY MORE!

The Westbury’s birthday only comes around once a year (surprising that isn’t it?) and to celebrate their 2nd birthday in style, they’ve got a killer line-up. The candle blowing takes place the weekend of Friday 6th and Saturday 7th March and features New Young Pony Club, Ebony Bones, Post War Year, FrankMusik, Rob Da Bank, A Skillz, Mr Thing and lots more! As ever, the entry fee is recession busting as it’s free before 8pm, then no more than a fiver after that. And with a late licence until 4am we suggest you clear your diary now! There are even rumours of free drinks and goodies bags given out over the weekend...

The Westbury just keeps getting better and better. Over the past 12 months they have had the likes of Stanton Warriors, Hervé, Foals, DJ Format, Friendly Fires, Plump DJs, Scratch Perverts, DJ Yoda, The Nextmen, Kraack and Smaak, Ali Shaheed Muhammad (Tribe Called Quest), Bonobo, Norman Jay, Guilty Pleasures, Ashley Beedle, Maseo (De La Soul) and Unabombers to name a few... The Westbury is also home to Barry Peters (The Cuban Brothers’ alter ego) monthly nostalgic pop night ‘Tape The Top 40’.

If you were at The Westbury on NYE you would have witnessed Hot Chip whip the crowd into an absolute frenzy playing a faultless set of impressive party bangers. That night was packed to the rafters and went down in history as one of The Westbury’s best nights ever!

Oh, and have we mentioned the food? Handmade deluxe burgers are made on the premises and come in a variety of choices, served with homemade fat chips and coleslaw. The cocktail and drink list is pretty impressive too, with Gin Genie being one of the favourites. Another thing you can’t fault The Westbury on is their eye for interior detail, think Elle Decoration chic glamour, meets shabby chic.

So, who have they got on the bill to help them blow out those candles?
On Friday 6th March, they have DJ sets from New Young Pony Club, Ebony Bones, Post War Years, CSY and Tokyoyoyo (Mr Hudson) who kick off the first evening of the birthday weekend in style, bringing some cool kitsch to the proceedings.

After a successful year of touring and following the release of their Mercury Nominated album ‘Fantastic Playroom’, new wave superstars NYPC play an exclusive London DJ set that demonstrates why their ear for coarse, funky pop helped them release an album to great critical acclaim. Expect a prime selection of cutting edge electro, indie and pop.

We also have London’s Ebony Bones coming down to spin some tunes before her excursion to South by South West. Post War Years are another hotly tipped name, who will not only be joining Miss Bones in Texas, but at The Westbury too. Finally, completing the line up is CSY & Mr. Hudson’s Tokyoyoyo who returns to our turntables to drop some bombs.
8PM – 3AM / £3 BEFORE 11PM - £5 AFTER
On Saturday 7th March Rob Da Bank, A Skillz, FrankMusik, Mr Thing, DJ Khalil and Tidyrhythm entertain the punters as the pub stays open an hour later by closing at 4am instead of 3am.

Everyone’s favourite DJ, Radio 1 and Bestival head honcho Rob Da Bank returns to The Westbury to spin an eclectic set as only he knows how. If you’ve ever listened to his Radio 1 show you know Robby will drop everything from dubstep, disco, indie to grime and even folk.

Hotly tipped for 2009 is Frankmusik. A former beatboxer called Mr Mouth he has reborn as a bleeptastic alien. He's the male Robyn. And Mika on acid. He's the digital eccentric pretty-boy with the giant Trevor Horn specs and gravity-defying hairstyle.

He's a bloody weirdo so expect a bit of everything when he takes to the decks.
Finally, The Westbury favourite’s A Skillz and Mr Thing bring their immense talent and party rocking tunes that always manage to provide the perfect sound track to any party. Expect old skool hip hop, backpacker hip hop, funk, breaks and then some....
8PM – 4AM / £5 - !!!Later licence til 4am instead of 3am!!!
