Follow up to 2007's Cookies out on Rough Trade
Rough Trade are pleased to present you with Kicks, the second album from Glasgow's own 1990s.
1990s on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads
The trio gained a cult following with their 2007 debut Cookies. The line up has since changed up a bit - whereas they formerly consisted of 2/3 Yummy Fur alums + 1/3 V Twin alums, the current incarnation of 1990s now features 2/3 of V Twin and 1/3 of Yummy Fur, with Dino Bardot replacing
Jamie McMorrow on Bass!
So to clear up any confusion, 1990s are NOW: Jackie McKeown (vocals on most songs, guitars), Dino Bardot (bass, vocals on two songs), and Michael McGaughrin (drums and vocals on 4 songs).
Kicks has references to Mongolian Warlords, Bears, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Baader-Meinhoff and Scientology, yet keeps their two favorite topics (girls and Glasgow) in the lyrical foreground, naturally. The album was recorded at Edwyn Collins' West Heath Yard studio in London and was produced by Bernard Butler.
"Kickstrasse" (Track 6) features added vocals from Kate Jackson (of The Long Blondes).
Check out the MP3 for "The Box" which has a late 70s, Berlin-era Iggy Pop vibe
