Last week reports came out that new frontman for INXS, JD Fortune, was abandoned in an airport by the band and was now living in his car.
He told Canada's Entertainment Tonight, "I was in an airport (in) Hong Kong and literally got a handshake. They said, 'Thank you very much.' I found myself really alone because I had traveled with these guys for 23 months. I don't know where I am going from sofa to sofa, from night to night. I am trying to get through my life."
Fortune admitted that he was addicted to cocaine and believed that contributed to his brutal departure. The other members of INXS finally responded to the news reports (through their Global Business Strategist), saying they were baffled by the news and do not remember the incident in question.
So the media, as usual, made a mountain out of a molehill. There was no falling out between INXS and their new frontman they found via reality show competition. Everything is hunky dory and they did not kick him out of the band by leaving him at a Hong Kong airport.
The band's spokesman then goes on to confirm that they were no longer working with Fortune. But although they had parted ways, they still wanted to work together and Fortune was being invited into the studio for new projects. Unfortunately (pun intended), all of this media drama has made working together an impossibility.
"The band has always stated to me that Fortune's services could potentially be contracted again when INXS next tour. In fact he was next on my list to call regarding a very big recording project I am putting together for INXS at present. I guess I have no reason to call him now."
