Maccabees, Friendly Fires and Zane Lowe confirm for Eastbourne Festival Live 2009

Maccabees, Friendly Fires and Zane Lowe confirm for Eastbourne Festival Live 2009
On Friday 24th and Saturday 25th April, a 1st class line-up of bands and DJ’s will descend on Eastbourne’s Winter Garden for the second year running. Following a hugely successful event in 2008 featuring Jack Penate, Pendulum DJ’s, Zane Lowe, The Metros, DJ Hype and many more, Eastbourne Festival Live brings together a selection of the UK’s finest new and established artists.

As part of the Eastbourne Festival - which aims to promote excellence in the arts, encourage diversity and challenge the existing perceptions of the town - the musical highlight of this cultural fusion is a 1600 capacity, two-day musical extravaganza. With a line-up worthy of any city across the UK, the organizers hope to show there is much more to this once quiet seaside town than previously thought.

Artists confirmed to appear on Friday 24th April are headliners The Maccabees, who return in 2009 with a new album and a UK tour planned throughout Spring. Supporting will be the critically acclaimed Friendly Fires, fresh from playing the NME Awards tour and with their latest single “Skeleton Boy” riding high on the Radio 1 playlist. Supporting will be hotly tipped band The Joy Formidable, plus London based Data Select Party, originally from Eastbourne.

Also making another appearing due to massive demand will be Radio 1's eclectic selector Zane Lowe who will be turning his hand to what he knows best - playing out some of the hottest new tunes!

Day 2 on Saturday 25th April will focus on the club and DJ event, with headliners Chase & Status and Andy C taking the main stage. Currently taking clubland by storm with plays from Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Pete Tong and many more, Chase & Status will be performing a live set joined by Plan-B, MC Rage and Takura, while Andy C hooks up with Dynamite MC and Shy FX who is also lined up to perform.

Room 2 is hosted by local promoters MASS Recordings who hold current residencies for The Gallery at Ministry of Sound and Brighton’s Honey Club. Playing the very best in electro, house and dubstep will be Brimmer, Jon Curtis, Kieran Brindley, Migzy and the Aberdeen Crime Scene

Tickets for both events are now on sale, available from the Eastbourne Festival box office on 01323 412000 and other outlets.
