March 2009 London Residencies
Featuring:

Rogues, Underground Railroad, This City
Dead Kids, The Chapman Family, Rubella, Lo-Fi Culture Scene, Soft Toy Emergency

Year kicks off with residencies at three London venues, in
Shoreditch, Camden and Soho.

Levi’s® OnesToWatch® jumps into its sixth year with fistful of musical aces tucked up its sleeve. Following on from the packed launch of the new Levi’s® Carnaby Street store, which featured an exclusive set from White Lies, the March residencies kick off with three London gigs, showcasing the best of the UK’s sizzling new talent.

The March shows start at indie hotspot, The Macbeth, with a headline performance from buzz band, Rogues, ahead of the release of their debut single. The following week Camden’s Barfly plays host to Parisian scenesters Underground Railroad, who have been attracting lots of attention following their support on the Fight Like Apes tour. Destined for big things in 2009, much hyped Brighton band, This City, headline the final March date at The Fly.

Strong and varied support comes from the likes of Dead Kids, Lo-Fi Culture Scene and The Chapman Family.

Watch this space for news on the return of the Levi’s® OnesToWatch® stage at The Great Escape in May, and more fantastic line-up announcements for this year’s keenly anticipated, “5 Night Revue” events.

Band Info
Rogues

Rogues are three brothers and two friends from Harrow, who blasted onto the scene at the end of last year, headlining amongst others, the Levi’s® OnesToWatch® stage in October. Their hotly-anticipated debut single will be released in March on 50 Bones, the upstart indie label responsible for Little Boots. Rogues have a unique combination of strutting 80s pop and angular 'Foals' style guitars, and have already been championed by Zane Lowe and Steve Lamacq. A string of festivals lie ahead of them this summer, including The Great Escape and Hinterland in Glasgow.

Underground Railroad
Following 2009 support slots with Ladyhawke and Fight Like Apes, Parisian trio Underground Railroad will release their new EP “Pick the Ghost” in April on One Little Indian. Their dark avant punk sound, produced by John Goodmanson (Death Cab For Cutie, Bloodbrothers), brings to mind the psych sounds of the Pixies and Velvet Underground, with melody at its core.

This City
Newly signed Brighton quintet, This City, are one of those rare bands who can truly embody the indie/ hardcore crossover, with a sound somewhere between Les Savvy Fav's angular attack, early Biffy Clyro, and The Automatic.

The band met at a tattoo convention in 2006, and make boisterous yet sharply- executed dance punk. 2008 saw them play the 'Radio 1 Introducing' stage at Latitude, The Great Escape and Camden Crawl. Previous support slots include Biffy Clyro, Future Of The Left and Ghost Of A Thousand.
They have had extensive support from both Kerrang! and NME, plus airplay on Radio 1, and have just finished recording their debut album with producer Matt Bayles (Sound Garden, Pearl Jam) in Seattle.

Dead Kids

Levi’s® OnesToWatch® favourites, Dead Kids, return to the stage in March for what is bound to be another highly-charged performance. Genuinely unpredictable, their live shows are renowned for their sense of surprise and energy. Their latest single, “Into The Fire”, was released in December on Sparrow’s Tear records.

The Chapman Family

The Chapman Family are four brothers from Stockton-On-Tees with a sound somewhere between Sonic Youth and Joy Division. As yet unsigned, they have supported the likes of We Are Scientists and Reverend And The Makers, and have won Steve Lamacq’s “Demo of the week” twice.

Rubella

All-girl rock band Rubella are as ferocious and sardonic off stage as they are on stage, with a sound reminiscent of Hole, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Sonic Youth.

Lo-Fi Culture Scene

New front runners of the Underage circuit, Lo-Fi Culture Scene have an average age of 15, and released their debut single on DIY indie label, KIDS, last summer. Radio play on XFM and Radio 1 quickly followed, as well as second place on the Myspace chart on MTV2, and sell out shows at the O2 Academy.

Soft Toy Emergency

Female-fronted electro kids, Soft Toy Emergency, make big noises with tiny drum kits, driven by a propulsive mix of electronics and shattering guitar. As yet unsigned, the Liverpool quintet have played at In The City festival, and have supported the likes of Hadouken and Iglu & Hartly . Debut single ‘I Kno U Want It’ is released through Friends Vs Records on 16th February.
