For
Seth Walker fans everywhere, today is the day! The young blues-americana star is celebrating the release of his new record this week. Entitled
Leap of Faith, the collection of songs here signify
Walker’s drive and determination to create something beyond the confines of modern day blues and singer/songwriter-dom, bringing in R&B and country influences that amount to his finest effort yet. The Austin, Texas-based guitarist and singer recorded the disc in Nashville, Tennessee with acclaimed Grammy award winning producer
Gary Nicholson. The album’s twelve tracks capture the Texan’s suave vocal stylings and seemingly natural penchant for authentic-but-modern rhythm and blues. Often compared to artists such as James Hunter, Robert Cray and Susan Tedeschi,
Walker’s Leap of Faith offers up original honky-tonk jams like
Can’t Come With You, slow-burning blues in the form of
Rewind and a number of surprises, such as his passionate take on the classic
Nick Lowe track “Lately I’ve Let Things Slide.”
First hitting the scene with his self titled, 2007 Hyena Records debut, Seth has gone on to rack up spots in both the Americana and Living Blues Top 20 charts, and has received the unbridled praise of top publications such as
No Depression,
Blues Revue and
Maverick UK Magazine. Seth’s charm has even won over the hearts of legendary artists such as
Bonnie Raitt,
Taj Mahal and
Delbert McClinton.
McClinton himself,a guest vocalist on
Leap Of Faith track “Something Fast,” also sang Seth’s praises, saying "The first time I heard Seth Walker at a small club in Nashville I was impressed like I haven't been impressed in 30 years, with performance, presence, and great songs." All this praise didn’t come overnight; Walker has been at it for over a decade now, perfecting his rousing brand of blues in small bars and clubs across the country. An unlikely rock success, Seth grew up on a commune in the boonies of North Carolina as the son of classically trained musicians. Playing cello from the age of five, Walker’s chance encounter with the six-string guitar in his late teens led the way for a lifetime of hoe-downs and good-times.
Seth Walker will be a featured performer at this year's
South by Southwest, and is currently out on a U.S. tour through June. Known for his scorching live shows, he hit the road extensively throughout '08, performing at world-renowned festivals like
Flat Rock in North Carolina,
Springfest in Florida,
Rawa Blues in Poland and
Moulin Blues in Holland. He's headlined shows across the U.S., often playing to sold-out rooms, while joining the likes of
Johnny Winter, Marcia Ball and
Robert Cray for opening appearances.

What The Press Is Saying About Seth Walker:

"This young man is pure talent, a masterful blues guitarist, a singer with swing in his voice…” - Austin American-Statesman
"Seth Walker serves Southern roots guit-pickin' and blues songcraft with ease and grace. Echoing a variety of artists, from Jimmy Reed to Ray Charles, he slips expertly from loose-jointed shuffles to organ-inflected feel-good fare and a whole lot more. An old soul with new fingers, Walker cooks from start to finish." - Denver Westword
"Seth Walker is a splendid mix of roots styles: blues, soul and Americana, featuring deep-fried guitar licks, churchy organ and crisp horns, mostly delivered over spot-on shuffles." - Creative Loafing
