Following 2008’s hugely critically acclaimed, Richard Hawley produced album, ‘Made In Sheffield’, Tony Christie releases a brand new single, the gargantuan epic show-stopper, ‘Every Word She Said’.
2008 was arguably the year that one of Britain’s most enduring voices found its finest pitch and recorded an album that he would justifiably want regarded as his legacy, thanks to its impeccably conceived love and dedication, from start to finish.
Recorded in the same sessions as the ‘Made In Sheffield’ LP at Hawley’s Yellow Arch studios (a beautiful dedication to the city that Tony Christie grew up around, featuring new recordings of songs by Sheffield’s most revered contemporary artists), ‘Every Word She Said’ is written in collaboration with local songwriters including another of Sheffield’s young indie guitar bands, Tiny Dancers. In now standard Tony Christie fashion, his rich vocal is as exhilarating and chilling as ever, and surrounded by a backing of widescreen, soaring atmospherics.
Alongside a documentary of the same title, filmed by Grammy Award winning director Don Letts, ‘Made In Sheffield’ is the complete package and one that has brought huge acclaim to Tony Christie as a true British pop legend.
Tony Christie will also feature in Peter Kay’s forthcoming Comic Relief TV programme, ‘Raider Of The Lost Charts’ on the 15th March on Channel 4.
