Programmer/keyboardist Sammy Rubin and vocalist Jeremy Haines rounded up their friends Fujiya & Miyagi, Mixel Pixel, So Percussion, Adam Matta, Clack Singles Club and vocalists Katie Hasty of Numbers and Letters and Kellie Rae Powell to make “The Colors EP”. The upcoming collaboration EP will be released on April 14, 2009. A percentage of the proceeds will go to the 826NY Organization (826NYC)

The Colors EP’ will hold you over until the forthcoming full length sophomore album which is due later this year.

Project Jenny, Project Jan spans a forthcoming surprising musical range, from the sinister beats of “320” to the feel good “Summertime”; from the singalong swing of “Brooklyn” to the expansive Bollywood feel of “The Dialogue.” One thing remains constant, however: Their kinetic energy, which inspired Billboard to call Project Jenny, Project Jan’s live show a “shockingly dynamic, danceable, and hilarious affair.”

VanityFair.com called the band “awesome” and enthusiastically recommended its show “to anyone with functional knee and elbow joints.” Meanwhile, Gothamist solemnly observed, “This is a band that should be taken seriously.” The duo’s originality impressed Ear Farm enough to name Project Jenny, Project Jan one of its top ten bands to watch out for in 2008. Sure enough, that year Project Jenny, Project Jan was featured in the film Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, performing their rowdy crowd-pleaser “Negative.”

Project Jenny, Project Jan’s discography so far includes its self-released EP —and its debut album XOXOXOXOXO (Might Records), which CMJ hailed as one of the top 25 albums of 2007. Having toured up and down the East Coast, playing with bands such as Vampire Weekend, Mixel Pixel and Chairlift, in 2007 Project Jenny, Project Jan opened for Fujiya & Miyagi in the US and then again in the UK; currently the boys are about to embark on another F&M tour, this time across the Southern US and the West.

Press Love...
CMJ: "one of the most entertaining live acts I've seen to date"

The Deli: "genre poppin"
Cool Hunting: "irresistibly danceable and always brings the party"
Popmatters: "more pop music should have this much fun"
MSN: "almost too much fun in one album"
Stereo Subversion: "(PJPJ) has created something exciting and unusual in
the world of dance music"
All Music Guide: "the albums so diverse that project never revisit a genre

Pitchfork Forkcast:
“A clan of the Hamburger Helper's knit cousins help bring to life this clip for "Pins and Needles" from Project Jenny, Project Jan's forthcoming EP, Colors. Fujiya & Miyagi guest on this track, which practically could have been an outtake from Lightbulbs, with it's stammering, krauty rhythms and breathy, clipped vocals.”

VANITY FAIR:
"Project Jenny, Project Jan Get Serious"
“Pins & Needles,” which is one of those slow-building booty-shakers you like to have ready when it’s time for everyone to put down the damn drinks and dance." -Michael Hogan
