"Battle" Is Available On April 7th
In the era of "singer songwriter on every block", Richie James Follin takes it a step into the future with a nod to the past. The process takes place in Los Angeles, CA. A recording studio in a ranch style house in Echo Park was the backdrop complete with vintage equipment such as plate reverbs and true echoplex audiophilia. A sort of "anti technology" approach not typical in the southern California region with studios in every bedroom, this record nearly adheres to a more campgroundesque-lets-all-play-together at a gathering and hope someone documented the songs.
Dan Horne from Beachwood Sparks and Mezzanine Owls played pedal steel and acoustic bass, Juan Paul Caballero from Dios Malos played electric bass, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, Band of Horses played guitar, organ, and piano. Luke Paquin of Hot Hot Heat played guitar, Loren Humphrey on drums, Christof Certik from Winter Flowers played mandolin and Jennifer Argenti on the violin.
On Independence Day 2008, Dan Horne threw a BBQ at his home/ studio AND everyone showed up to put down their contribution to the record. With free range chicken and ribs sizzling on the BBQ, Battle was made..
The album will be available at RICHIE JAMES FOLLIN'S BATTLE and through iTunes.
In a special offer for music lovers, those who purchase the album through RICHIE JAMES FOLLIN'S BATTLE will also be able to purchase the cd and vinyl.
RICHIE JAMES FOLLIN'S BATTLE will also be offering a year subscription where people can get the downloads and other additional tracks throughout the year made available only through the website. This will also include a dvd with live footage.

Amphlifier:
“Every musician has a story, but a good musician is one that has a story worth telling, or at least is equipped with the necessary creativity, force and skill to do so. Richie James Follin proves throughout Battle that he is an artist possessed of all these qualifications.”
Racket:
....for those just looking for a good time, “Battle” is worth the effort.”
The Sentimentalist:
“This is a captivating album full of slinky, smooth guitars and gritty, down home rock n’ roll riding overtop a dusty bluegrass structure.”
Venus:
“Ultimately, what makes Battle sound so good is Follin’s affected twang and nasal delivery; it’s as fresh and spirited as a ‘60s hippie who caught the music bug when Dylan plugged in.”
