As they prepare to wrap up what was a huge European tour, and while stateside, press and fans alike have been salivating over their new album, Philadelphia and indie rock's most progressive, unique, and devastating live acts, Stinking Lizaveta, have just just given a great surprise to their ever-growing rabid fanbase. Released March 31st on At A Loss Recordings, Stinking Lizaveta are currently streaming their entire new album, "Sacrifice and Bliss" on the Decibel Magazine website.
Serving as a stepping stone from the metal underground into the spotlight of the mainstream music community, Stinking Lizaveta's newest venture has been garnering praise from some of the most unlikely places, and rightly so. Using the talents of Sanford Parker (Nachmystium, Yakuza, Minsk) for production, Sacrifice and Bliss manages to capture the first real studio sounding album and shows the heavy rock trio at its absolute best.
A tender guitar theme yields to tough Jesus Lizard grooves gets trampled by some classic metal swing and a bitchin' guitar solo from one of the band's two bearded Papadopouli. It all ends with the triumphant return of the tune's opening theme, this time given a kingly, heavy metal recessional makeover. - Prefixmag.com
