Exploding from the D.C. music scene is The Dance Party, and they are everything their name insinuates…and more. They are releasing TIGERS on July 14th, the follow up to the critically acclaimed hook-laden debut albumFriction! Friction! Friction!”

The Dance Party
delivers high-energy rock with a sound that combines Dance-Punk, 80's New Wave, and Powerpop.

The Dance Party recently recorded 10 tracks with Andros Rodriguez at the helm (Justin Timberlake, Cobra Starship, !!!). “The process behind working with Andros was something like this…he would fly down to DC on a Friday and we'd get fucked up and slay and party all night. And no matter how shitty we were feeling on Saturday, we would wake up and lock ourselves in the studio until 5am the next morning. We would let the juices flow. It was focused madness. Andros kept it all together,” says singer Mick Coogan.

The new material demonstrates the band's strengths - undeniably catchy pop songs executed with an over-the-top delivery, guaranteed to cause the uncontrollable desire to throw caution to the wind and get radical on the dance floor. “People can sense and relate to a band when they are kicking ass and having fun and that's what we do every show. Our live shows are infectious for party people. We're going to dance and rock and drink and go nuts and its honest. When people come to our shows--they know it's going to be a party. There's no irony in it. We are not an ironic band. We want to rock the fuck out and get wasted and get laid,” says Coogan.

Bands that inspire The Dance Party are Tears for Fears, Def Leppard, Ladyhawke, and heavy R&B. “I like the big harmonies and gigantic hooks. I love the audacity of bands to craft a song around three huge choruses and then actually pull it off. I love The Darkness and All American Rejects. These bands write songs for the masses and they stick. Lyrically, I just write about our experiences as a band. The songs on Tigers are mainly characters that are representative of girls and experiences that we've had,” says Coogan.

“Sasha Don’t Dance” carries great weight live and also on the album. It has soaring vocal melodies, heart-pounding beats and an undeniable ability to make any listener’s hips and shoulders shake to the captivating rhythm.

With a successful debut album behind them, The Dance Party has polished their live set and has hit the road in support of TIGERS. Be sure to catch The Dance Party touring this Spring and Summer.
