I HEART HIROSHIMA RELEASE EP “FRIENDS WITH SWORDS” 6th JULY
It had to happen... with so much interest growing in the UK & Europe I HEART HIROSHIMA find the fuel to trek from Australia to the northern climes. After an invitation by Artrocker to play THE GREAT ESCAPE in Brighton on May 16, in a wanton display of gratitude they also announced their first ever European tour across May 2000 as guest to THE RAKES... and following this, a string of dates across the UK as they plan to play as much as possible. Following on the excellent radio support (BBC1, BBC6, NME Radio, Q Sounds) for Punks - the first single from Tuff Teef - an new EP featuring Got Bones and Crime from the album along with Neutron Popsong, Candy Cut and a cover of New Zealand band The Chill's sublime Pink Frost.

In the shadow of hometown Brisbane's Go-Betweens and Saints... the three-piece I Heart Hiroshima feel the pull to the UK. Susie (drums/voice), Matt (guitar/voice), & Cameron (guitar/voice/art)… emerged in the party of back streets, to carve a trail through the bark and offer the spirit of many (Sleater Kinney, TV On The Radio, Leonard Cohen, Smiths, Raveonettes, Magnetic Fields, Frank Black, Jesus and Mary Chain, Walkmen, Slumber Party, Pharcyde). Putting their heads down in earnest circa mid-05, they embarked on performances with (and more often than not earned the praise of) Deerhoof, Broken Social Scene, Calvin Johnson, Erase Errata, Regurgitator, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah… and extended tours with Ratatat, The Rogers Sisters, The Grates, Peaches & Herms… and more recently a late 2008 Australian tour with Conor Oberst and performances with Cat Power, Tricky and The Streets. Susie was invited to play drums for The Go-Betweens Robert Forster's over his two nights of Velvet Underground homage at the Warhol exhibition launch at Brisbane's Gallery of Modern Art. Tuff Teef was voted best debut album for 2007 by Brisbane's Courier Mail, London in Love was included on an Xmas Artrocker sampler in the UK, and they were runner-up to Wolf & Cub on the SOYA awards. Two EPs on Valve - 3 Letter Word for Candy, and then Cut in Colour prior to the debut album… and many festival appearances, shows in New Zealand with Ratatat and The Mint Chicks. I hear new horizons... after stand out performances on Sunset Sounds Brisbane Riverstage with Santogold, The Grates & Franz Ferdinand; and then the Big Day Out in Jan 2009... Susie, Matt & Cameron continue to singe hearts as they recently started work on a follow up album due late 2009.

A winding thread of rock beat craze... got it bad... got it good.

You can catch their thrilling spree live at these dates!
