Takka Takka
Release Critically Acclaimed Album, Migration, on Vinyl Today * Leak Son Lux Remix of “Silence” * New York w/ Robyn Hitchcock and More!
New York's Takka Takka are pleased to announce that their critically acclaimed album, Migration, is available today, and for the first time ever, on vinyl! The inaugural release for Ear Farm, Migration has been newly remastered, and, in honor, the band is giving away a new track, 'Silence (Son Lux remix)', which is available on the Cross Pollination Mixtape Vol II from Family Records here. Son Lux, the brain child of composer Ryan Lott, who has recently completed remixes for Mute Math, My Brightest Diamond, Jamie Lidell, and the Castanets, appears thanks to Anticon Records.
To further the celebration, Takka Takka have lined up a few shows, including dates with Robyn Hitchcock, and more!
Takka Takka dresses up its guitar-based indie rock with gurgling synths and disembodied vocals, recalling both the Velvet Underground (the frontman, Gabe Levine, has mastered Lou Reed's impeccable disaffection) and, occasionally, its Brooklyn peers the National. - The NY Times
Their sophomore effort develops an atmospheric, rhythmically sophisticated sound that recalls the late-70's work of Peter Gabriel and Brian Eno. Crisp guitar melodies weave a delicate latticework with the taut, understated polyrhythms of drummer Conrad Doucette... upbeat numbers such as "Everybody Say" and "Homebreaker" have exceptional charm - Spin Magazine
It's indie-pop at its most ambitious - XLR8R
An adventure of an album that keeps on giving when you ask it to - Ear Farm
