As they prepare for the release of their debut, self-titled album, Montreal's CLUES have just announced their first set of full US tourdates to coincide with their album's release, due May 19th on Constellation Records. In celebration of the festivities, the band has just premiered their debut video for the song "Haarp," which also serves as the leadoff track to the new album.

All footage in the Haarp video was shot on Super 8 by local experimental filmmaker Karl Lemieux, an active member of the Double Negative Collective.
Karl came down to film while Clues were out flying kites in bitter winter deep freeze as part of the artwork session for their debut album (photos from the kite flying expedition appear throughout the record packaging).
Karl's footage was then edited by Brendan and Ben from Clues.
The kites themselves were designed and printed by local silkscreen luminary Leyla Majeri.
Featuring co-founders Alden Penner (formerly of indie-rock's beloved band The Unicorns) and friend Brendan Reed, the band's debut is forged from postpunk, no-wave and psych influences, and composes a rare breed of complex pop anthems that consistently inscribe their own perfect limits, without overreaching and without pandering. The overriding aesthetic avoids ornate decadence and stringent economy in equal measure. An authentic, unfussy and stirringly epic little sonic world unfolds: idiosyncratic and enigmatic, but exuberantly infectious and approachable. Clues offer up a highly original, intensely committed and hugely satisfying definition of indie rock.
