From Manchester's dynamic musical landscape comes the most compelling soundclash to rise from the underground for years. Few bands can so smoothly mix dancefloor-savvy elements of reggae, jungle and ska with the rigorous commentary of hip-hop whilst retaining enough grit and aggression to be an active fixture of the UK's punk scene but SONIC BOOM SIX are doing just that. Little wonder that NME declared them the most exciting live band in the country’.

If someone made a film about THE VIRGINS, the director’s pitch to the studio would be Stand By Me meets The Goonies meets Kids. One of the hottest tips at the start of 2009, The Virgins have delivered on that initial rush of critical praise with their deut eponymous album. With a reputation for hedonistic live shows, the New York trio are set to follow former NYC residents in making the UK their own this year.

Sometimes, it makes sense to wait. Most bands, after an initial taste of success, would happily rush headlong and record album after album but not METRIC. Following the success of their 2005 hit single “Monster Hospital”, and the accompanying album, “Live it Out”, the Canadian quartet decided instead to gracefully retreat into the margins and think things through carefully. The result is their brilliantly raw and innovative new album “Fantasies”, and their own record label, Metric Music International, and distribution system.
