Tania Bowers' life as a musical gypsy has led her along a magical path filled with happenstance and wonder. Born in Australia to South African parents, she began playing with her sister Kim in vowel-free, noise-pop outfit SPDFGH around Sydney in the early Nineties, opening for the likes of The Breeders and Bikini Kill before she was even legally allowed to drink. Her sophomore release, Moon Sweet Moon sees a change in direction for Via Tania, dictated from the very seeds of the songs upwards, and features contributions from an array of skilled players including members of Tortoise, Lara May (Ben Lee’s band), Shearwater, and Melbourne’s Ground Components - to name but a few.
"The lush, layered, arrangements foreground her voice -- which is both soft and brazen, like she's whispering directly into your ear -- and have a dreamy irresistible appeal"
– VOGUE
"Via Tania, aka Australian-born Chicago chanteuse Tania Bowers, sings in a wispy, elfin voice amid an ornate, music box-like arrangement that makes me surprised to see that her previous album was often described as "trip-hop". Vocal effects do add a certain spaceyness, but "Wonder Stranger" comes closer to Joanna Newsom than to Portishead. Bowers could be in a painting herself." - Pitchfork
"Likened to Björk and Feist, the only parallel one can reasonably draw is that, like her contemporaries, this singer-songwriter has come along when a breath of fresh air is much needed. Her lyrics are elegantly simple; her music aesthetic — one that cannot be boxed in by attaching a genre." - Venus Zine
"(Moon Sweet Moon), full of dreamy-yet-substantial, bliss-and-wonder-filled tracks — “The Beginning” is an absolute gem — with some guilt-free disco thrown in to marvelous effect. For fans of Kate Nash, Feist, and even Kerli" - MTV
"Tania Bowers deserves to leap off off tastemakers’ tongues much in the same way their other assorted darlings do seemingly every day. I’ll be happy to trumpet Bowers to whoever will listen (and I’m willing to use full force). Bowers is one of those rare artists that could give the hemorrhaging music industry a glimmer of hope." - The Daily News
The ridiculously prolific Luke Rathborne, has only existed on this earth for a mere 21 years, and has already found himself with a body load of work. His heavenly but haunting melodies and tales will leave you reawakened to a sound and intimacy that surpasses artists twice his age. Rathborne relocated to New York from the deep woods & shallow waters of Brunswick, Maine in August, 2006. He couch-surfed through the upper boroughs of the city before moving into the dark abandoned loft, of Charlie Pineapple Theater Company in Brooklyn. In 2007, his self-released debut album "After Dark" led to praise-worthy features in Interview Magazine, and NME.com. Presently, he's putting the finishing touches on a second LP, a notable departure from his first effort with lush string arrangements and orchestral woodwinds and brass filling out the more stripped-down sound left from his initial release.
“..Like Bob Dylan, Lou Reed or Will Oldham, why should you expect anything else but constant haunting, and engaging development.”

Coined as the love child of Jon Brion and Beck, Vanessa Bley was raised with a rich, musical upbringing fostered by her father legendary jazz pianist Paul Bley. With a deep passion for pop music, Bley is one of New York City’s most celebrated composers emerging onto the map. With a debut EP set to release this summer, Bley has generated remarkable presence for herself already. With several side projects extending beyond her usual solo compositions, Bley has achieved remarkable success with a song she co-wrote titled “Creepshow” for the Island Def Jam artist Kerli’s debut release, which was additionally selected for the FOX series “Fringe.”
"There are plenty of girls with guitar and/or pianos out there, yet so few who put crafty songwriting before confessional statements… No doubt Bley has learned a thing or two from her dad, free jazz piano legend Paul Bley, but she's clearly employing her skills in service of the almighty Pop Song, which is an art form few folks even bother to attempt anymore..." - The Deli Magazine
“Indeed, this musician is a combination of beautiful poetry and pluck 'n spirit. Bley fights for every written lyric, every single syllable and musical note. Her victories are emotionally truthful stories turned into songs about heartache, loss, and the human experience. She evokes comparisons to PJ Harvey, Ricki Lee Jones, and Sarah Vaughn. But make no mistake, Vanessa Bley is a true orginial.” – The Official Vandal
