SUICIDE SILENCE’s critically acclaimed debut album, “The Cleansing”, has SoundScanned an impressive 70,000 units in the USA to date. The band themselves were hailed by Alternative Press as “one of the 100 bands you need to know about”.
There is little doubt in anyone’s minds that SUICIDE SILENCE are one of the frontrunners of the new wave of American metal, a statement further validated as the group won the “Best New Talent” Award at the inaugural Revolver Magazine Golden Gods Awards, held at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on April 7th, 2009. As the ‘Rockstar Energy Mayhem’ Festival came to a close in the summer of 2008 there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that SUICIDE SILENCE emerged as one of the event’s breakthrough artists. The buzz from this tour ultimately became the launching pad for the band’s current success. SUICIDE SILENCE spent 2008 mainly on the road, toured Europe with Behemoth as well as Parkway Drive and Bury Your Dead, embarked on the aforementioned ‘Rockstar Energy Mayhem’ US tour with Slipknot and Disturbed, headlined the Summer Slaughter UK/Europe tour with As Blood Runs Black, Abigail Williams etc. and went to Australia.
They kicked off 2009 the same way as direct US support to the legendary Carcass that was immediately followed up with the band headlining the second stage on the lengthy ‘Music As A Weapon IV’ North American tour alongside such genre titans as Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, Chimaira and labelmates Lacuna Coil, among others.
