Altsounds - Sean Bones Unveils “Dancehall” First Single From Frenchkiss Debut

Set to deliver a sun-soaked debut of Reggae-infused indie pop via Frenchkiss Records this July, Brooklyn’s Sean Bones is teasing the release with a gargantuan summer anthem called “Dancehall.” Unveiled this morning, AOL Spinner likened it to The Police and The Clash, while RCRDLBL went for a Vampire Weekend nod and a slightly more exotic bridge to Toots & the Maytals. No matter the reference points, it’s a blinding, stomping, slide-guitaring good time, available for download below.

Recorded by Jon Spencer knob-minder, Jay Braun, Rings runs the gamut from sturdy rocksteady grooves to sly Spector-esque pop; Afrobeat bounce to reggaeton, disco, and so much more. And of course, there’s the Norah Jones connection. Sullivan spent last summer in Jamaica shooting a film opposite the Grammy award winner.
