New Jersey’s finest exports and Pitch Fork favourites, The Gay Blades, return with a spanking new single, ‘Not Having Done Nothing’, taken from their forthcoming debut long player, ‘Ghosts’.
Fun, smart debut single O-Shot had critics enthralled and Not Having Done Nothing follows suit, upping the ante with it’s Cribs-y Oh-Oh-Oh ramalama chorus.
Having recently tweaked the nipple of the blogosphere with their SXSW performances The Gay Blades return to the UK for a run of gigs in support of ‘Ghosts’.in May. They are a thrilling live band and damn fine entertainers. Larger than life, a massive sounding two-piece, Clark Westfield (vox/gtr) and Puppy Mills (drums) own the stage with no frills and no pedals.

Comparisons with Eagles Of Death Metal, Beck, White Stripes, T Rex, The Cars and Bright Eyes have all been levelled at them and, yeah, they all have some truth in them. The Gay Blades write big, arch pop songs with a glint in their eye and though they’d die (or kill) before admitting it, these songs are from the heart - they really do mean it.
