LIONS AT YOUR DOOR national EP tour

LIONS AT YOUR DOOR national EP tour
With the long-awaited debut EP for local icons Lions At your Door finally in stores, we’re happy to announce the band’s self-titled EP tour. The dancefloor filling indie-punk-jazz-rock stylings of LAYD have earned the band solid cred in Australia’s burgeoning underground scene, with the raw energy in their live shows being both admired and envied by punters and musicians alike.

Having grabbed the attention of the industry from their very first demo of underground hit LAYD, the hugely anticipated EP from Sydney sextet Lions At Your Door is now available online and in stores. Recorded at Sydney's Linear Recordings (Teenager, Empire of the Sun, Lost Valentinos, INXS) the independently funded release was produced and mixed by the band themselves. Working with engineer Chris Vallejo, all tracks on the EP were recorded live to tape using analog recording equipment, something the band felt was necessary in order to capture the energy they're renowned for live.

The band's first official single Turning Burning opens the EP with guns blazing. The track, one of the first penned by the band, is an energetic pop song about yearning to be free in a big bad city. The diving beat of the drums is matched by the ferocity of guitarist Dirk Jonker'sgrowling strums and fierce performance by vocalist Marihuzka Larenas-Esquivel.

The title track LAYD, an undisputed club banger with fat synths and disco drums to match, has graced dance floors and received numerous make-overs by eager knob tweakers the world over. The track blends elements of disco, punk, metal and pop to result in a ballistic explosion of guts and fury - that you can dance to.

The DA sees the band delving into the more mature side of indie rock. Fundamentally a pop song, the track's sparse melancholic guitar intro soon transforms into a heaving wall of sound as keys-man Dave Heinrich's angst ridden vocals convey the desperation of the lyric like a howl for help.

C-C-C-Crossfire is the rawest of the tracks, having been recorded as a demo in a dingy studio somewhere in Sydney, the energy is undeniable. Bassist Nick Milner's thumping bass line and violinist Victoria Zamora's hooky violin part make the song impossible to ignore. The tracks climax being a percussion break-down followed by a vocal duel that explodes and breaks into 'that' riff.

Closing the EP is a remix of LAYD by Sydney local Mailer Daemon, that is destined to be a dance floor favourite in indie clubs around the country. Mailer Daemon's reworking of the track retains the punk aesthetic of the original whilst working in some booty shaking electro beats.

Like the cherry on top, the cover art of the EP was done exclusively for the release by NSW artist Craig Phillips who has worked for companies such as Rolling Stone Magazine and Spin drawing portraits and tour posters for the likes of The Beastie Boys, Turbo Negro, Queens of the Stone Age, The Foo Fighters and many more.
