Buraka Som Sistema are poised to celebrate summer ’09 with a UK release of album track ‘IC19’ on July 20.
Having started the year bringing forth their ‘Sound Of Kuduro’ single straight to the dancefloors of the nation, BSS have been enjoying international acclaim ever since. Here’s just a little of what Kuduro influenced digital dancehall deviants have been up to since we last met…
- Coachella 2009 – BSS were the toast of the festival by many accounts, wowing the hot and happy crowd in the packed out tent.
- US Tour - Welcomed with open arms and air-punching fists, Buraka’s debut American tour went down a storm as they played to sold out venue after venue - including the Bowery Ballroom in NYC.
- Festivals – Buraka are doing a great run of summer festivals in Europe, including a headline set at Sonar, Fujirock, Melt, Bestival, Pukkelpop, Lowlands and Exit.
- BSS have remixed Rye Rye's debut single ‘Bang’ featuring MIA which is out now on MIA's N.E.E.T label.
- Their bootleg of Lykke Li’s ‘Dance Dance Dance’ caused a huge stir when it spread like wild fire on the internet on the eve of their US tour
- In reaction to such great responses to their amazing bootlegs, BSS are planning a Mixtape called “Blood Diamond” with new original material, bootlegs, beats and samples. More on this to follow

‘IC19’ will come complete with remixes from James Talk, A1 Bassline, Mikix the Cat and Deathface (half of the brains behind Guns n Bombs). It will also be available in the US only as part of the Mad Decent Tour EP, which features mixes from Toadally Krossed Out, Toy Selectah and DJ Sega – on 12” and download only.
Before Buraka take their famed dance party across Europe, ‘IC19’ will remind us all why the summer of 2009 belongs to them.
