Ernest Jenning Record Co. Announces: "Ernest Jenning's Caravan Of Stars!"
We at Ernest Jenning love more than anything the ability to bring our bands together not just on the same record label, but also, when possible, on the same bill for the live setting. Though their sounds may sometimes be different, we feel the Ernest Jenning bands share a similar spirit that makes their live shows something truly special and unique. - Ernest Jenning Record Co.

On the heels of the success from last month's first ever Caravan Of Stars, the title given to Ernest Jenning's series of live events showcasing the label's newest and brightest stars, comes the sequel!

Featuring some of the latest additions to the label's roster, including Charles Burst, The Nouvellas, and The Albertans (whose gorgeous new album, "Legends of Sam Marco," comes out tomorrow on EJRC), the mini-tour this time takes the artists from Brooklyn to New Haven and down to Philadelphia.

About The Albertans:
You could say The Albertans are from Vancouver, Canada, and in a limited way you wouldn't be wrong. You could also say they lay claim to a creative pedigree from the Brooklyn autoclave and expect only one retort: Right you are. Musical polyglot and songwriter Joel Bravo, a native of Milwaukee, and bassist Ian Everall, Albertan by birth, met while members of New York's Bravo Silva. When that outfit ended they, along with a large and talented rotating cast of players, began playing in New York City under the name Sex with an Angel. They played CMJ in 2007, they moved to Vancouver in 2008, took up the name The Albertans and, along with a few new fellow travelers, took on the challenges of realizing a pop vision. The Albertans, though, are not about place or pedigree. It is passage, the extremis of transmitting real bodies across the tangled wires and abstracted networks of space and person, that comes through when they play. Their songs are a cartography of North America mapped on the trail of human footsteps' fading heat signatures. It is traveling music, and they sing their songs in search of a road through territory made uncertain by love, dreams, and strange frustrations, the few directions to be heard tuned in dubiously on the last working AM radio.

About Charles Burst:
Charles Burst, formerly of the much-loved Brooklyn band the Occasion. For all of that group's psychedelic exploration, they always had a knack for hovering around the more sun-burnt and desert wind-swept margins of Americana, and as Burst steps out front on his own we find him bringing that whole area of interest way more into focus, combined with a much tighter song writing effort than his previous associates ever evinced. There's a real satisfyingly forlorn country vibe throughout the album, but he also somehow manages to evoke a bit of the sound and desolation of John Lennon's first solo LP. It's a great and rich combination, and a compelling exploration of some of the more dusty margins of American music. - Other Music

About The Nouvellas
When the Nouvellas played their first show in late 2007, those in attendance remarked in disbelief about how tight and talented the band was. For a first show, the members all played in perfect synch with each other, as if they'd been playing together for years. Truth be told they had been. They were all former members of the New York soul girl-group The Dansettes. When the Dansettes called it quits, the five of them decided that they were far from quitting the music scene, though all ready for a slight change. Vocalists Leah Fishman and Jaime Kozyra, along with the Pierce brothers -- Dennis on guitar and Andy on drums - as well as Joseph Babic on bass, had a new vision: build on the solid soul foundation that was their reputation, but also blend in all of their other favorites. From the sounds of Lyn Collins and Bobbie Gentry to Steve Cropper and Black Sabbath; the group delivers something fun, something toe-tapping, something that will stick in your head for weeks to come! The band hit the ground running, playing their first shows to packed houses with the likes of Mary Weiss of the Shangri-Las, the Reigning Sound and the Mooney Suzuki. It wasn't a huge surprise, as The Dansettes spent the last few years building a name for themselves while sharing the stage with bands including The Dirtbombs, Vampire Weekend, and The Electric Six, while also serving as a backing band for seasoned soul legends Archie Bell, The Mighty Hannibal, Roscoe Robinson, and Young Jesse. When the incomparable Sharon Jones makes an appearance in New York, Jaime and Leah can be seen on stage with her adding backing vocals to the arrangement -- just as they did on Jones' most recent LP (so it comes as no surprise that Jones' Daptone label-mates,The Budos Band, can be heard lending a hand on the Nouvellas upcoming debut 45).
