NYC buzz band Darlings to release scrappy, garage pop debut "Yeah I Know"

NYC buzz band Darlings to release scrappy, garage pop debut "Yeah I Know"
Darlings practice a brand of upbeat guitar-pop that's equal parts sun-soaked '60s melodies and the noise of their hometown. Formed in New York City, Peter Rynsky, Matt Solomon, Maura Lynch and Joe Tirabassi all met while killing time in college. Their songs are fun and short, the themes light (parties, girls, tv), and the fuzzy recording quality is just right to get excited about on the no frills, to-the-point garage-pop gems thoughout "Yeah I Know".

Upcoming Shows
7.03 NYC @ Webster Hall
7.16 NYC @ Cakeshop w/ Lovvers
7.18 Baltimore, MD @ Talking Head Club w/ Lovvers
7.25 Brooklyn, NY @ The Castle In Hell

NYC buzz band Darlings to release scrappy, garage pop debut "Yeah I Know"
Out 8.11.09 on Famous Class

MP3: If This Is Love
MP3: Teenage Girl

"They call to mind a sloppier Teenage Fanclub or Sloan at times, with whimsical melodies that feel completely timeless. Then, out of nowhere, they turn into a loud, screamy rock band, like early Replacements or the Jason Lowenstein contributions to Sebadoh, or maybe even... Nirvana? Basically, they've held onto the idea that this whole music thing was always supposed to be fun because you get to bang on shit really, really hard - it just so happens they bring an awful lot of other stuff to the table as well. Boogie Boarder's "Pizza Hero" out TODAY 6.23.09
MP3: Bio Hassle
MP3: Little Giants

While Brooklyn-based Boogie Boarder don't demand to be taken seriously themselves, their crunchy, catchy, lo-fi surf rock does. With a unique sound that recalls the the power and prowess of prime era Load noise-rock with a more inviting, whimsical pop bent, Boogie Boarder describes their style as "the beast-lord avatar of a two-minute pop song". The band will be releasing their second album "Pizza Hero" this summer on the Famous Class label/art-collective (Darlings, Snakes Say Hisss!) and they will be touring with their labelmates later this summer, as well as making a stop at Wham City's Whartscape 2009 Festival.

Upcoming Tour Dates
6.27 NYC @ Death by Audio w/ Pterodactyl
6.28 NYC @ Studio B w/ Ninjasonik and Team Robespierre
7.11 Baltimore, MD @ Whartscape
7.17 Brooklyn, NY @ Market Hotel

"Assuming for a moment that our beloved Ponytail had a large share in resurrecting good vibes and positive music through amazing chops and challenging, weird music, then let us postulate Boogie Boarder as another band filling in the natural order that begs for music with bigger vibes and greater positivity that still retains the crunchy guitars and aharmonic progress left to us from our great detuned forefathers."

"Best band name I've heard in a while. Name of the Brooklyn foursome's full-length? Pizza Hero. You'd have to be nuts not to want to hear it. The fact that their grungy stripe of surf rock rules doesn't hurt either."

CDs out now in an awesome zine made by the band
