Red Light Company return with a new single through Lavolta Records on 3rd August. ‘Meccano’ is taken from their Top 20 debut album, ‘Fine Fascination’.
Red Light Company were created by vocalist and guitarist Richard Frenneaux. Following a childhood that saw him move from London to Australia to Aberdeen to New Zealand before finally settling back in the UK as a teenager, Richard developed an intense interest in pop culture. Drawing on the international experiences and his love of David Bowie, The Clash and high fashion, Richard determined to create a band that aspired to grandeur and expressed a belief in high art as a populist force, disillusioned by the prevailing culture of ordinariness he found amongst the popular bands on his return to the country of his birth.
Thus ‘Meccano’ is an excellent calling card for Richard’s artistic vision. Suffused with glam inspired guitars and call and response backing vocals, the track fuses the spirit of punk with a high glamour and a killer chorus. In a sea of identikit doom rockers, twittering ‘personalities’ and ‘bands of the average’, ‘Meccano’ is a flash of light and a reminder that pop music at its best is always out of the ordinary.
Red Light Company will follow their recent sold out London Scala show with more dates throughout the summer, details will follow shortly. www.myspace.com/redlightcompany | |
