Brooklyn's Premier Festival In Celebration of New York's Electronic Music Scene To Be Held on August 8th At The Old American Can Factory
Building in the inaugural success of 2008, Famous Friends, a New York-based promotion company, in conjunction with Noise Problem, a leading multi-faceted music agency, are pleased to announce The Second Annual Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival (BEMF). Spanning two stages, indoor and out, BEMF will offer performances by RJD2, The Juan Maclean (live), as well as dozens of other DJs and performers.
BEMF is an all-day event for emerging and established dance artists celebrating the vibrant music scene found in the city of New York. Working together with Boston-based alternative marketing agency, Street Attack, BEMF will bring together New York's veterans and up-and-coming talent, along with some special out of town guests, and will be held on Saturday, August 8th at Old American Can Factory, located at 232 3rd Street in Brooklyn from 4PM to 4AM. Advance tickets are $25 and can be purchased at BEMF - Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival. More information will be announced soon.
"In the past few years New York City has seen an incredible re-emergence of some of the most revolutionary dance artists in the world", remarked Brad Dickason of Famous Friends. David Krell of Noise problem continues, "by putting on this festival we hope to showcase New York's incredibly diverse array of dance music and artists."

About The Artists:
Since the turn of the 21st century, DFA club music maestro Juan MacLean has been laying groundwork. First, there were killer singles, from "By The Time I Get to Venus" in 2002, to last year's international mega hit & critical year-end favorite "Happy House" as well as the "The Simple Life". There was a debut full-length (Less Than Human, 2005); remixes for colleagues like Air, Chicken Lips, Daft Punk, David Gahan, Matthew Dear; international tours with Cut Copy and Shocking Pinks; and DJ gigs from Telluride to Tel Aviv.
For RJD2 it's 2009, and as usual, popular music finds itself stagnant. A cadre of important records slated to change the game forever join queue alongside a frequently replenished fresh faced roster of newcomers poised to champion new sounds and take their spoils. Purists in each camp decry the newcomers, citing the respective death of each genre and yearning for the days of yore, when records were judged by their innate qualities alone and not the amount of blog buzz garnered on the hot new band of the day. What's to be done about the current state of things? Don't ask RJ. He's been in the basement.
