Whitewall
Magazine and Whitewall Online aim to reveal the personalities behind the creators that shape the art world today, inspiring a new generation of art collectors. Until now, Whitewall has been a quarterly collector's piece found in various high end hotel suites, international bookstores, jets, design boutiques, private clubs and by subscribing to their exclusive mailing list. Whitewall is the answer to the growing demand for an accessible and well respected platform that merges the disciplines of art, architecture, design, and lifestyle all in one place.

With the launching of Whitewall's online version, we're proud to reveal a one stop source, celebrating the interplay of influences and culture across the spectrum of visual creativity in popular culture today.

Online, you will find exclusive content aimed at helping today's collectors master the art of collecting and navigate the opaque art world. Through experts in the auction market, emerging international markets, advisory, art law, photography, and other arenas Whitewall will filter and dissect today's news and market trends.

Whitewall Magazine / Whitewall Online - Summer 2009?

WW MUSIC+ART

Whitewall met with Thomas Bangalter in New York — sans light-up helmet, of course — for a rare and unguarded interview about the ways in which Daft Punk transcends the music business and becomes a constantly evolving work of art." - Scott Indrisek

After almost two years of steering clear from the spotlight, Daft Punk breaks their silence for an exclusive interview with Whitewall Magazine. To Whitewall's happy surprise, Thomas Bangalter spoke fluently of contemporary art titans like Matthew Barney and Andy Warhol. Bangalter spoke candidly on the robot performers origins, the accessibility of music as a medium, and the exponentially increasing difficulty to keep contemporary culture's attention.?

WW FILM+ART

"It was a brand-new thing for me — this dome business. I think there are going to be many more dome films in the world. It’s such a great thing you can really go all out. It’s incredible." - David Lynch

David Lynch talks Diamonds and Domes in Miami where Whitewall visited the director-visionaire-extraordinaire at his site-specific installation at the Cartier Dome. Lynch's seven-minute “floating diamond” projection was looped and accompanied by a musical score for visitors to fully realize and experience the light, sound, and texture born from Lynchs' imagination.

WW LIFESTYLE+ART?IMAGE

Is New York City’s own Asianpunkboy, Terence Koh the next Andy Warhol? Or is his award winning, six-figure-a-piece-and-growing downtown art empire all just getting to our head? Chocolate, gold, and semen have all made it into his critically acclaimed and much sought art and installations and for now, it seems, there really is no definitive line suggesting where Koh’s life ends and his art begins. Find out why life’s just one long exhibition for Koh as well as his candid views on reincarnation in the upcoming summer issue of Whitewall.

WW ARCHITECTURE+ART?COLLECTOR

Currently ranked as the 39th ‘Richest Man in the World’ in the 2008 Forbes List of Billionaires and owner of one of the biggest collections of contemporary art worldwide, Francois Pinault has now recently taken ownership, restored and re-launched the historical Punta Della Dogana in Venice, Italy. In celebration of the opening of Pinault's second space in Venice (first being the Palazzo Grassi), Whitewall caught up with the collector and the curators he trusts to handle his precious collection: Alison Gingeras, Caroline Bourgeois, and Francesco Bonami. Discover why Pinault commissioned Japanese minimalist designers Tadao Ando (Architects and Associates) and the vision they all hope to convey when restoring this new and innovative home for contemporary art.?

Whitewall Magazine 'Performance Issue' is available June 22nd in stores with extended online coverage at Whitewallmag.com
