U2's 360 tour officially kicked off earlier this month in Barcelona, Spain in front of a crowd of thousands. Prior to embarking on their World tour, the band played a string of intimate club dates including a stop at the historic Sommerville Theatre which lies just outside of Boston. With an audience of hundreds, rather than thousands, U2 rocked No Line On The Horizon's first single "Get On Your Boots"!

The great U2 has also teamed up with a leading force in the world of mobile technology as the face of the new Blackberry campaign. With the help of Blackberry fans can discover the 360 tour in a whole new way!

After much critical praise of his EP Cabin Ghosts, Cory Chisel is back with his band The Wandering Sons on the new single, “Born Again.” Also joining Cory on this rocking new song are Brendan Benson and Patrick Keeler of The Raconteurs. “Born Again” is the lead single off Cory’s debut full-length Death Won’t Send a Letter, set for release on September 29, 2009.

Where have all the good new British bands gone? Hello? Is there anyone out there? The answer is a pretty resounding “nope”. Stop and think of a genuinely good new band you have heard in a year that is already way past half-done and I bet you ten Chomps you’ll struggle.

Then we saw Pens and it changed everything. Their set lasts about 14 minutes and the girls swap instruments in between tunes mainly because it appears none of them really know what they are doing. The whole thing is so swathed in static and reverb and shambolic about-to-fall-apartness that it’s like watching that YouTube clip of the kid kicking through the granite wall and getting his ankle snapped in half: kind of bite-your-bottom-lip atrocious but kind of the best thing you have seen since ever.

They also do a cover of “Sex Beat” by the Gun Club that sounds like the Germs trying to be the Shangri-Las through a gauze of early K Records fuzz. ~ Jammin’ Johnson / VICE

The Black Crowes are one of the all-time great live rock bands. Their shows are legendary and regularly sell out in record time wherever in the world they play. U.K. favorites ENTER SHIKARI continue to make headlines State side and in their homeland, this time debuting on the U.K. charts at #16 with the release of Common Dreads. The follow up to the band's critically acclaimed, Take To The Skies, was released worldwide on June 16 and digitally in the United States. The Andy Gray (U2, Korn) produced Common Dreads has been touted by Absolute Punk as "an outlet of mammoth proportions" and by the BBC as an album "packed with anthems."

The Beastie Boys have released a 12” (featuring Nas) exclusive to indie record stores. This limited pressing of 5,000 was recorded live at Bonnaroo 2009, when Nas joined the Beasties on stage to perform a new track titled “Too Many Rappers” from the forthcoming album “Hot Sauce Committee,” due in stores this fall. This limited edition 12” record is a return to old school values with the Beastie Boys releasing their new music in a vinyl format before it goes out on a CD and digitally.

The exclusive 12" went on sale on Saturday, July 18th.
