“Like Steps In A Dance” Today on itunes
Anchor&Braille releases the first single off Felt called “Like Steps In A Dance” today via itunes. The track was also heralded by USA Today as the highlight track in this week’s playlist.
The full-length album is set to hit stores everywhere August 4th on WoodWater Records, Stephen Christian’s own record label, which is distributed by Universal Music. Produced, engineered and mixed by Copeland singer Aaron Marsh and recorded over the course of four years, Felt is the first full-length for Anchor&Braille and the first release for WoodWater Records.
“Like Steps In A Dance” is a song very near to Christian’s heart. “I read a book by an author from South America, his words always have a way of resonating with me in the most mysterious ways. After that I started translating it into my own life. It all started on the phone, she had asked me to write her a song with the knowledge of the few words we ever shared. I began to stretch the chords as far as they could go. Within a few minutes I had what was to be an introduction to her, or to us. Sing to me every night and I’ll make you the happiest…we had ran away moments before we were to part, we never touched just exchanged words that meant goodbye. We ran from lights and footsteps, and she said that she had never experienced anything like this. Later I heard they were lies but I don’t care now. I remember running down a hill once to give her a small piece of paper that had a few fumbling words of pseudo poetry on it and needless to say I was more elated than she, but then again she never had much to ask, only much to say. Ss soon as it began it was over, like steps in a dance,” says Christian.
“The songs are mostly songs of regret and heartache, with hopes that each and every one rings of nostalgia and better times for all who listen,” Christian continues. “These are some of the most painful songs I have ever written but with each song I felt a sense of relief and on some level an almost spiritual repentance and cleansing.”
