White Belt Yellow Tag have announced the release of new single, ‘Tell Your Friends’ on Monday July 13th 2009. Released through Distiller Records and self-produced and mixed by Chris Potter (The Verve), the single is taken from their debut album ‘Methods’ which is due for release later this year.
Following the release of their debut EP ‘You’re Not Invincible’ earlier this year, ‘Tell Your Friends’ will be available on 7” & download and features the B-side ‘146 Ways’.
Based around a creative core of Justin Lockey & Craig Pilbin, the pair began writing just over a year ago after meeting in a studio in Newcastle. Lockey, who was previously in Yourcodenameis:Milo, had steadily been building a considerable reputation as a producer, working on singles and demos for the likes of Late of the Pier, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, White Lies, Enter Shikari & Everything Everything among others.
Pilbin had a bunch of songs he wanted to try out with Lockey, yet it soon became apparent that the producer / writer relationship was too restrictive as both began contributing in equal measure; the results were instant, falling somewhere between the glacial flow of Slint and the uplifting majesty of Doves.
The writing process was effortless and by early 2009 most of the debut had been recorded (and later mixed by Chris Potter). Full album details will be announced shortly.
Despite only having played a handful of shows, White Belt Yellow Tag are already something of an epic live proposition. The band will be on the road throughout June in the run–up to the release of the single.
