It’s been quite a year for Brooklyn’s The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. Tipped as one of five to watch in 2009 by Pitchfork founder Ryan Schreiber on ABC news, they’ve released a brilliant debut album, wowed the crowds at SXSW and picked up famous fans in the form of Little Boots and Nicky Wire. Plus they’ve stormed the UK with some incredible sold out tours, including four packed-out London shows on their last UK trip alone. Now the four-piece are set to unleash one of their debut album’s undisputed standout tracks as the next single. Come Saturday is three minutes of fuzzed-up joy; a thrilling blast of indie-pop with searing guitars, whoop-along chorus and loved-up lyrics: “I can't see into the sunset, all I know is that you’re perfect right now" “It’s about loving someone that lives far away and celebrating the time that you do have together,” says singer Kip. "Does that sound like a greeting card? I mean, it's about fucking." The single will be the final cut taken from the debut album before an EP of brand new material hits the shelves in October. Featuring the tracks Higher Than The Stars, 103, Twins and Falling Over, it promises to be another dose of winning indie-pop, and is sure to be snapped up by the band’s growing fanbase. After that, it’s back in the studio to set to work on album number two. No rest for the pure at heart. And besides, says Kip, “Days off are no fun!” “Pure indie-pop to hold close to your heart” NME - ‘Come Saturday’ out August 24th via their UK label home- Fortuna POP!
- Special one-off showcase with Veronica Falls and Hatcham Social next Tuesday at The Garage, London.
