Festival Republic today announced the line up for the BBC Introducing stages at the Reading & Leeds Festivals 2009. Following its successful debut last year the BBC Introducing stage will once again be a feature of both festival sites showcasing up and coming artists and bands from around the UK, from Friday 28 August – Sunday 30 August. The bands that play the stage are chosen through a combination of the BBC’s countrywide Introducing shows, Leeds promoters Futuresound and promoters Festival Republic. Following a massively successful debut last year, the BBC Introducing Stage is the place to see the potential headliners of tomorrow. The Reading and Leeds Festival has a long history of being the starting point of some of rock n roll’s greatest stories. Whether Nirvana’s first UK festival performance, small stage debuts for Muse, Coldplay, Elbow and a host of others and, with the BBC Introducing Stage, record deals for General Fiasco and Sky Larkin following their inclusion on the line-up, Reading and Leeds Festival is about both the biggest headliners and the best emerging new talent.
