27-year-old Norwegian producer Joachim Dyrdahl aka diskJokke was discovered by Prins Thomas and kicked off his career releasing singles on Thomas’ label Full Pupp. After 2008’s critically acclaimed debut album, Staying In, he’s back with Rosenrod, the new single on Moshi Moshi Singles Club on August 24th.
Coasting on the Balearic disco wave created by fellow countrymen Lindstrom & Prins Thomas, Rosenrod arrives awash with hypnotic, cascading cosmic beats and alluringly bouncy bass. Layers of silky, ambient melody is influenced in equal parts by Italo disco and Blue Monday. A shimmering synthesizer combines the retro-futurist sheen of krautrock with nods to classic Chicago house – the result a cocktail of catchy, deliciously downtempo disco that has come to be associated with the vanguard of the genre.
