Rizla Invisible Players tour returns to Bestival with biggest line-up so far

Including Lindstrom (Live), Optimo, Greg Wilson, The Ragga Twins, Jazzie B, Disco Bloodbath

The Rizla Invisible Players tour heads to Bestival on 11th to 13th September on the Isle of Wight, to close its festival season with the musical van packed full of excited party hosts.

The 2009 tour has picked up many fans (both new and old) along the way and has caused a stir everywhere it has gone, including Rockness, Lovebox, and The Big Chill. The Rizla Arena makes its third appearance at Bestival, featuring a heavy weight line-up, guaranteed to ensure that Rizla’s fame for lively parties and great music continues for another season. This year’s Arena has a new improved design and a fatter Funktion One sound system.

Man of the moment Lindstrom will play his only gig of September at the Rizla Arena – a show not to be missed. The other highlights feature a special performance from Jungle legends The Ragga Twins, pop sensation Little Boots, Scottish party boys Optimo, Beats in Space’s Tim Sweeney, Hacienda’s Greg Wilson and original Funky Dread Jazzie B.

Friday is headlined by Scottish legend duo Optimo, and the likes of US based Tim Sweeney, fast rising Little Boots (DJ set), maestro Jon Carter with MC Feral, the mighty Heavenly Jukebox and Ninja Tunes’ Shuttle.

The party continues on Saturday with the man of the moment Lindstrom showing off his live set, also Disco Bloodbath invited back into the musical van for another disco-tastic party, the Ragga Twins special performance and the mighty and increasingly over subscribed Hip Hop Karaoke.

Sunday plays host to original Invisible Player Greg Wilson, who will close the party, with David Shrigley, Bullion, Jazzie B, and Rub N Tug’s Thomas Bullock all ensuring that festival-goers will keep their groove on all weekend.

The Rizla Arena will be in its usual location opposite Bollywood Bar.

Playing from a unique musical van, a recreation of the original Rizla touring van of the 1920’s, The Invisible Players play spontaneous and inspiring sets from a diverse record collection. There are no prepared set lists, just pure improvisation and the creation of a unique vibe in the Rizla Arena. The sound could vary from Dub, Electro, Dancehall, Funk, Hip Hop, Breakbeat to Northern Soul and Acid House – the roots of popular music as we know it.

The 2009 tour kicked off with two Rizla Invisible Players club nights in Bristol (Start The Bus, Friday 29th May) and Manchester (The Deaf Institute, Saturday 6th June) before taking Rockness festival by a storm, then Lovebox and The Big Chill. Following Bestival there are three more parties planned for Leeds, London and Glasgow in September and October. Details to be announced very soon.
