Ian Brown showcases new video for 'Stellify'

Ian Brown showcases new video for 'Stellify'
Ian Brown – NME Godlike Genius, Q Legend - makes history by releasing four brand new songs from his forthcoming album My Way, seven weeks ahead of street date and on the same day lead single Stellify receives its first public play.

Stellify was debuted on radio on Monday 10 August, at the same time the video for the song was premiered online. In an unprecedented move, Fiction made the Stellify EP available to download from iTunes at midnight that same evening. Alongside being able to own four new album tracks, including Stellify, the EP gives fans access to an exclusive 48-hour pre-sale on tickets for Ian Brown’s Winter Tour, the dates of which will be announced shortly. All the songs on the EP are lifted from My Way and buyers have the option of purchasing the remaining album tracks on its 28 September release date as part of iTunes' Complete My Album promotion.

"Ian has the best fans in the country,” says Steve Warby, Fiction Label Manager. "It seemed only natural to offer them the chance to get new tracks from the album and tour tickets first".

The Stellify EP features four brand new tracks: Stellify kicks off with staccato rhythms colliding with pounding bass and euphoric brass, as Brown addresses his “angel fallen from the sky”. Crowning Of The Poor follows, outlining the dreams and aspirations of the “son of a poor boy”, of where things went right and wrong. For The Glory set the internet ablaze when its lyrics were published last month, with fans and press eager to decipher the song’s seemingly autobiographical story. Final song Marathon Man brings the EP full circle, its stripped down electronics and scorched earth rhythms underpinning Brown’s valedictory chorus: “I am the marathon man, with the whole world in my hands.”

Stellify will be released as a traditional single via all retailers on 21 September on Fiction. It is followed a week later by My Way, on CD, 12-inch and download. The bulk of the album’s 12 tracks were co-written with long time collaborator Dave McCracken at London's Battery Studios, where Brown and the Stone Roses recorded their seminal debut 20 years before.

Ian Brown has been confirmed as a very special guest on the main stage at the 2009 Reading and Leeds festivals. He plays shows in Wolverhampton and Oxford beforehand.
