I AM GIANT RELEASE UK DEBUT 'CITY LIMITS EP' on FACELESS RECORDS

‘City Limits’ is the debut EP from Quicksilver starlets I Am Giant out 05/10/09 on Giant Sound Recordings.

For Antipodeans IAG are a band that need no introduction. Comprising of multi-platinum selling artists Shelton Woolright (drums), Paul Matthews (bass), Max O’Donnell (guitar) and Ed Martin (vocals) this is a band that knows a thing or two about song writing and performing. Collectively they have supported the likes of Metallica, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Muse, Snow Patrol and Linkin Park to audiences up to 70, 000 strong – nuff said.

Kiwi drummer, Shelton Woolright comes from triple-platinum selling band "Blindspott" (EMI), the only band in New Zealand’s history to have both their debut and follow up albums enter the charts at number 1. Whilst bassist Paul Matthews, another Kiwi, is from double platinum selling band Tadpole (EMI /Antenna) and more recently Stylus, as well as being one of the most in demand producers in New Zealand. Throw vocalist Ed Martin and axe-man MadMax O’Donnell into the mix and the result is an explosion of huge riffs, anthemic choruses and soaring vocal lines – think Muse meets A Perfect Circle.

Although still writing the early chapters of their history IAG have already made waves within the extreme sports community. Having been featured in countless Surf DVD’s (including the new Quicksilver Kelly Slater documentary ‘Cloud 9’ and a brand new offering from Brazilian based surfing company Mormaii) the boys have blazed a trail across the globe appearing at countless surf/skate festivals and events including Brixton’s Skate and BMX Jam, Quicksilver’s ‘Chromataphobia’ and the up coming Quicksilver Pro Tour in Biarritz on September 26th.

Now living in London the boys are poised to release their debut EP City Limits on 05/10/09.

Here’s their thoughts …
TRACK LISTING:

City Lights:

SW:City limits was the first track we wrote. I feel It really set the bar for us and instantly gave us our sound. I'd describe the sound as powerful melodic rock with an urban edge and no gimmicks.”

PM: “The chorus, "Feeling like I should get away" was one of the first things Ed sang to us and it says it all. I think everybody has had the feeling they are going nowhere, and its like how can such a massive city with so many people be so limiting and confining to me.... My favourite line is "And the paint is fading on a car that’s waiting around the corner to take you out."

Neon Sunrise:

SW: “We usually open our shows with this track. Its a great opener cos its so high energy, and it sets the pace for the whole set.”

PM: “This track is a snapshot of infidelity from the perspective of everybody involved. Temptation, guilt, suspicion, denial, the making excuses, remorse. "Am, I missing something? As if I shield my face from the cold rays of a neon sunrise...”

Let It Go:

SW:I think Let It Go showcases our influences coming together. while still putting the song first and foremost. We don't try too hard to mix styles or to invent a new genre. Just write some great songs, and let our backgrounds and influences come through naturally

PM:"He's not the man she thought she fell for..." Well these were actual words spoken to a close friend of mine. My reply to him was "Who did she fall for then?” "Living the Lie with so much love tonight..." and like so many people he stayed with her anyway.”

Living The Crash:

SW: This one is about the state where you're not sure if you're dreaming or awake. Musically I'd say it is like Rage Against the machine meets Coldplay.”

PM: “I fell asleep behind the wheel one night on the motorway in NZ and actually had a dream in that very brief period that I was at my friends wedding. So I kind of woke up behind the wheel in the fast lane, gripping the wheel and gritting my teeth somewhat.. it was that feeling that initially inspired this track.”
