The Raveonettes return with their poppiest album to date

following 8 weeks in a ‘real’ recording studio working with producer and fellow Dane Thomas Troelsen

Following a 3 month return to their hometown of Copenhagen while they recorded their new long player, The Raveonettes are now back in the comforting hustle and bustle of New York (Sune Rose Wagner) and Los Angeles (Sharin Foo) where they have lived for the past few years. The Raveonettes are now readying themselves for the release of their fourth full length album ‘In and Out Of Control’ which will see its release on October 5ththrough Fierce Panda Records.

‘In And Out Of Control’ was written, recorded and mixed at producer Thomas Troelsen’s Delta Lab studio over the course of an intense 8 week period where both Sune and Sharin worked 18 hour days make sure this record was as good a record as they’d ever produced. Sune’s approach to this record was quite different from previous albums and he chose to work with Troelsen specifically for his pop sound and because he had never worked with a band like The Raveonettes before. Having worked with the likes of Junior Senior, Melody Club and DFA, Troelsen has taken the essence of that trademark Raveonettes sound and moulded it into something with much more gloss than on previous recordings.

‘It felt like it took forever to find the sound on this album and all the songs were so different from each other which made it even harder’ commented Wagner. Once we finally started treating each song individually instead of looking for a common thread it all strangely came together’. ‘It’s a mix of modern and old, dark and happy….it’s about rape, lost love, violence, suicide and not giving a shit about what other people think of you’.

From the 8 track ‘Whip It On’ EP, through lo-fi ‘Chain Gang Of Love’, final album for Columbia Records ‘Pretty In Black’ and first self funded recording ‘Lust Lust Lust’, The Raveonettes have continued to release challenging records that have both beauty and darkness in equal measures. ‘In And Out Of Control’ now sees the band embrace the pop sound that’s always been lurking in the background and bring it to the fore with songs like ‘Breaking Into Cars’ and ‘Last Dance’, and even sees a foray into the world of electro on songs such as D.R.U.G.S and ‘Boys Who Rape’ (Should All Be Destroyed).
