Today marks the limited release of BiRd-BrAiNs, the debut album from new 4AD signing tUnE-YaRdS, the singular musical project of New England native Merrill Garbus, for the first time on CD!
Available previously only from her website and on vinyl through Marriage Records, this version of BiRd-BrAiNs comes in a screenprinted wallet sleeve and is limited to just 1,000 copies worldwide. Once sold out, it will not be repressed in this version and is a must for all 4AD collectors!
This limited release comes a month ahead of tUnE-YaRdS first European Tour where she will join Dirty Projectors for a slew of dates in September! Prior to this run, her only European performance to date came when she closed The Breeders Curated All Tomorrow Parties at Minehead, Somerset with a rousing midnight set. She made a lot of new friends that night, playing a one-woman live show that showed her to be quite a talent. On September 5th she will play in New York with Phosphorescent and Mike Bones just before she heads overseas, and will then come back to the States to tour in October! See all dates below.
The official release for the album on 4AD actually comes November 17th in the US (16th in the UK) when BiRd-BrAiNs will be released formally, remastered and with two extra tracks added! Until then though, we're delighted to be welcoming an artist as talented and unique as Merrill to the fold and to be involved in releasing her music.
