On September 15, 2009 Wind-up Records will release the highly anticipated sophomore album, A Time For Lions, from the Portland based trio (Kevin Calaba, Jason Bell and Daniel Orvik) Stars of Track and Field. The album will be released digitally at iTunes on September 1st, 2009. A Time For Lions was produced by John King of the Dust Brothers (Beastie Boys, Beck, Linkin Park, Carlos Santana) along with Stars of Track and Field who co-produced 5 of the 11 tracks - "End of All Time," "Now You Lift Your Eyes To The Sun," "Safety in Numbers," "The Stranger," and "Sunrise Ends."
The new release follows the bands' debut for Wind-up, 2006's Centuries Before Love and War. That album received rave reviews from the press including 4 stars in Alternative Press Magazine. Chord Magazine raved, "With this amazing debut, the Stars will undoubtedly put themselves further ahead of the pack, because, well, when it gets down to it, regardless of similarities, they're infinitely more exciting than anything the Northwest mainstreamers have been offering in recent years."
Although Stars of Track and Field have taken some time before bringing fans and critics a new album, you will not be disappointed with the offerings on A Time For Lions. The trio continues with the sound they know best and what worked so well on previous recordings, but they also bring a personal, more mature feel to the table on the new release. A Time For Lions starts out with a bang on "Racing Lights" while showing a darker, more melancholy side on "Now You Lift Your Eyes To The Sun" and continues to take the listener on an amazing journey throughout the entire recording.
