Gary Go releases free twitter song in association with the British Heart Foundation
Fresh from supporting music royalty Take That and Lady Gaga on tour this summer, British singer-songwriter referred to by Q magazine as the ‘One Man Coldplay’ - Gary Go - will release a new song he wrote on Twitter called ‘The Heart Balloon’. The song will be available on a pay-what-you-like basis with 100% voluntary donations towards the song going directly to the British Heart Foundation (BHF) on Friday 21 August.

‘The Heart Balloon’ will be available to download for a limited time only from Friday 21 August at 8am until midnight on Monday 31 August via the charity’s website Pulse

This all began when Gary saw a heart-shaped balloon entangled in a tree outside his house. The self confessed hopeless romantic that he is, Gary uploaded a picture of it onto twitter and kept his fans up-dated with its progress. After suggesting he write a song about it, Gary then asked his Twitter followers to tweet song lyric ideas to him about the heart balloon and the rest, as they say, is history.

‘The Heart Balloon’ song can be downloaded ahead of Gary’s set at V Festival this weekend where he will perform this song as well as previous singles – ‘Wonderful’, ‘Open Arms’ and ‘Engines’ amongst others.

Speaking of ‘The Heart Balloon’ Gary says:

“Collaborating with my twitter friends was very natural with this song because they were a part of the heart balloon's progress...Our imagination was collectively captured by something very simple and very innocent.”
Speaking of why Gary chose to donate all proceeds to the BHF, he said:

“I've had people close to me who have suffered from various heart conditions...The image of the heart balloon makes me think of them. The song is about how fragile the heart is and how we're all connected to one beating heart. Donating the song to the British Heart Foundation was just perfect.”
Peter Hollins Chief Executive of the BHF adds:

“We are really grateful to Gary, both for the donations which will be coming to the BHF, and for raising the awareness of heart disease being the biggest cause of deaths in the UK, very many of which could be avoided.”
